Personal Bio:

Allison F. Speer is  a writer-turned-mom-turned-teacher. A newspaper reporter for 15 years, Speer has won a number of awards for investigative reporting and feature writing both in Connecticut and in Texas newspapers and magazines. She is the mother of five and currently teaches 8th grade reading in Fort Worth, Texas. After working in marketing at the nationally ranked Fort Worth Zoo for several years, she went back to school as a single mom to obtain her teaching certificate. However, her writing passion remained. Inspired by a true event during her Zoo days, she wrote a draft of a children’s book and used her students as a focus group. A year later, her first children’s book, “Theodore, the Turkey Who Found a Zoo” was created.
