Don’t let the light mess with your schedule

Hey you.

The nights are going to start drawing in here in the Western hemisphere. That can affect your productivity without you even realising. The clocks have just gone back an hour and the light will arrive and disappear sooner in the day. The upshot of that is the day will seem shorter.

We know that can mess with people’s routines, so we are doing a gentle reminder this morning to make sure you schedule the things you need to do ‘in the light’ earlier in your days for the autumn and winter months. It’s a little thing, yet most of us forget that our circadian selves feel productive when the light is present, and most of us are more alert and creative when it’s ‘day’.

As a speaker, author, coach, you set your own schedule — whether self-confessed early bird or night owl, you know you like certain things like to be done by a certain time.

Take some time out to make sure your ‘winter rhythm’ gets an adjustment if needed. Switch around the time you do your social media spots in the day, move your creative writing slots into the light. Even something like taking your dog out for a walk can impact the routine. We invite you to actively look at what might need a timing tweak or re-jig so you stay as productive as you can, without missing a beat.
