You’ve all heard it before — you’ve likely even said it in a talk or to your clients! “Our thinking creates our reality”.
So how is your thinking about your business? Is it growing nicely as you wish? Is it optimised and at a manageable size that you enjoy running? If so, good for you. Keep doing what you are doing, and keep optimising.
If it’s not, then you might be falling into the trap of not thinking big enough. Whether you’ve just transitioned into working for yourself or you are going for the next level in your business, please check in with your vision. It’s very easy to ‘go small’. We invite you to Think Bigger. In the same way that things always take longer than you think they will, people always think smaller than they should when really planning how their businesses can impact.
To grow your speaker, author, coach business, you need to adopt the ‘Growth Mindset’ of a business owner, rather than the ‘Limited Mindset’ of self-employed person. Some people get stuck in not thinking big enough. We invite you to challenge yourself and the business.
So, what do we mean by saying THINK BIGGER?
Well, we don’t mean simply create more and more things, or ramp up the complexity. We are saying that the more expansively you think about your impact and the influence you want to make and then that you CAN make, that will help you to really adjust the business to the size you want it. In our experience, that inevitably means you end up thinking bigger.
And the great thing about that is that it’s very likely that you don’t need to do much to accommodate your business delivering at the bigger level — applying the ‘Work Smarter Not Harder’ principle allows you tweak your practices and ramp up without you losing yourself or adding hours and hours. Get a clear picture of what BIGGER means, and then use the resources around you to adjust. The chances are that when you have a very clear picture of what successful influencing and impacting means for you, you’ll know what to do, and it wont take much more effort than you are doing now. Think bigger, just for fun, for a moment and see what else is possible.
