I’m Zara and I’m a freelance proofreader.
I also freelance for Book Brilliance Publishing as a proofreader, typesetter and Production Manager.
I am a qualified proofreader and a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing & Proofreading (CIEP) (formerly Society for Editors & Proofreaders). I am an experienced publishing professional with 12 years’ experience in the publishing industry, including 11 years as a Production Manager at an indie publishing house.
During my time in-house at an indie publishing house, I oversaw the prodution process from start to finish of over 250 titles, including typesetting and proofreading, and supporting authors during their author journey. We attracted authors covering a wide range of topics, but specialised in working with entrepreneurs, business leaders, thought leaders and public speakers, who used their book to raise their profile and be seen as the expert in their field.
I have a meticulous eye for detail and am very thorough, and I am reliable, conscientious and highly-organised. I work well on my own initiative but am also a team player. I am effective under pressure and have excellent time management skills.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading many types of fiction and non-fiction, with my favourite genres being contemporary, suspense and psychological thriller. I also review books on Goodreads, including advanced reader copies from Netgalley.
